Bologna - Valentino Rossi claimed not wait to perform at the Spanish GP this weekend. This brand-new Ducati rider was hoping to achieve better results when appearing in Jerez, which is his favorite circuit.
The Doctor begins his first season with Ducati with a less than satisfactory results. 32-year veteran racer is only able to finish in seventh place in the series premiere at the Qatar MotoGP on Sunday (3/20/2011) ago. However, Rossi assess if the results were less satisfactory due to shoulder injury factor is not fully recovered.
"In Qatar, there are many tight curves and areas where we have to put the brakes to the right is very difficult for my shoulder," said Rossi. "We'll see, from my point of view, Jerez has a character more easily, although I think I still have a little pain," he continued, as quoted by Autosport, Wednesday (30/03/2011).
"Since the race in Qatar, I continue to work hard to restore conditions to train in the gym, to increase strength, especially stamina. Later, after the race in Spain (Jerez), I have the time almost a month to recover, following the removal of the Japanese Grand Prix schedule, "he added.
Talking about race Jerez, Rossi does have a track-record is excellent. Noted, had six times the Italian securing the top podium at Jerez. But now the situation is different. Rossi will be riding the Desmosedici GP 11 which proved to be quite resilient when appearing at Jerez. Since 2006, Ducati has never won in Jerez, and their best finish was third by Casey Stoner in 2009.
"From a technical standpoint, not a character seen Jerez circuit suitable for the Ducati. But, I really like this circuit and obviously, we should try to achieve better results from yesterday (GP Qatar), "he said.
