Ultimately formed in 1908, Feyenoord Rotterdam has come a very long way in it's 101 year history and is regarded as one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the history of Dutch football. In the inaugural thirty years of the club's history no less than seven Englishman managed the first team squad and in this period the club had already amassed five Dutch First Division titles and were twice winners of the Dutch Cup, setting the foundation for an illustrious history to follow.The 1960's saw the club win four more league championships after a twenty year run without the title, and a further two Dutch Cup successes meant it was the most illustrious decade in Feyenoord's history for silverware. 
The following decade would earmark the club's repuatation as one of the biggest and most succesful in European football, becoming the first Dutch side to win the European Cup in 1970, defeating Glasgow Celtic 2-1 at the San Siro. A 4-2 aggregate win over Tottenham Hotspur in 1974 ensured the club were the winners of the third UEFA Cup competition. Two more Eredivisie title's were won in the 1970's and in the 1980's a solitary league championship victory came in 1984. In that decade one Dutch Cup was also won in the same season, the third and final 'double' trophy haul for the club to date.In recent history the success of Ajax Amsterdam and PSV Eindhoven has resulted in a decline for Feyenoord, though two Eredivisie championships were won in the 1990's and the club celebrated it's second UEFA Cup success in 2002, following a 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund in the club's home stadium, the Feijenoord Stadion (also known as De Kuip).
