Il Grande Torino
The biggest and saddest event in Torino FC's history was the 1949 Superga plane crash, in which all but one of the club's players were killed when their plane crashed into the Superga hill on its descent into Turin. Toro had the best team in Italy at that time, the famous Grande Torino, having won 5 titles in succession. Sadly the Granta have never reached those heights again...

Founded FootBall Club Torino was founded on 3 December 1906, as the conclusion of a meeting between people, -including some men from Juventus [who left the club because of an inequality visions problem], and also Hans Schoenbrod, a businessman, later known as Torino’s first chairman- which was held in Via Pietro Micca, Turin. First championship noted in the history of Torino F.C. is Torneo Internazionale Stampa Sportiva in Turin (1908). The tournament was held by an Italian magazine called La Stampa Sportiva.
Unfortunately, Torino reached the final just to be beaten by Servette. 3-1 is the final scores that night. Next big step, Torino won its first title, which was also first Scudetto, in 1927/1928 season. Then, after quite a long time, 15 years, the club reached its glorious era, started with a scudetto in 1942/1943 season (second title), then continued with 4 more, consecutively from 1945/1946 to 1948/1949. At the time, Torino was one of Italian biggest club, member by magnificent talents and solid squad, marked with many brilliant records, -which is called Grande Torino.
