I was assured by two of my medical doctor friends, both having diplomas from some med school in the Philippines, that they were NOT part of that silly petition against that silly thing uttered by a FICTIONAL character in some silly TV series.
Just to make sure, I've asked my lawyer to verify that my two friends are not among the 80,000 idiotic Filipinos who signed that silly petition. I can't be too sure, after all my friends are Filipinos, and they could be lying to me. Nevermind that I've known them since high school, nevermind that I was one of the witnesses to their wedding. If I see their names on said silly petition against a silly joke uttered by a fictional character, I will never ever talk to them again.
I breathed a sigh of relief that my friends, despite having diplomas from some med school in the Philippines, have indeed not signed said silly petition.
I was in hall today and some fellows in college, a hairy Greek boy fucker, and a stinking French man (how's those for racial cliches?) asked if it was true that short brown Filipinos were burning effigies of Teri Hatcher (after they read the funny article on The Times about how Filipinos got offended by something lame on "Desperate Housewives"). My answer was "I wouldn't be suprised, we Filipinos take offense to silly things. I guess you can add another rule to comedy: Rule 2 - Don't make jokes about Filipinos. It's just not worth it. We are whiny crybabies."
As if that wasn't enough, one petitioner vandalised Manolo's comment box for his post about Burma. Can you fucking believe it???? It was meant to draw attention to the deaths in Burma, you hear me DYING people in Burma!!! and some imbecilic Filipino diverts your attention to his moronic petition?????
Hay naku, bwiset. Kahit siguro totoo yung diploma nila, pangpunas nalang ng pwet.

PS. I know I shouldn't but I can't help pulling out this from the comment box: "Your 2 doctor friends are probably 2 brown skinned-doctors who think they are white!!!" My irony registers have gone through the roof! Imagine Flipinoys complaining of racism and the best defense they can make is a joke on colour. Suddenly, the commenter pulls out some demographics, white blue, hispanic, chink, flip. I mean, how is this relevant? How is this helping your 'cause' exactly, going down the same route??? Aye caramba!
In all seriousness I say this: Filipinos have to unnecessarily provide a lot of documentary evidence on anything because of the rampant forgery and cheating. And we know why, sadly, some are forced to do it. (I won't tackle that in detail here. Besides it's obvious why.) Sure it affects 99.999999% of the honest and hardworking professionals, but there you go...rotten tomato in a bunch analogy all over again...
(And my advice is for you dear doctor, if you are hiring a nurse, make sure her PRC license is not 2006. Have a close look at those diplomas...LOL)
It's sad but it's true and unless we sort this out, we will continue to be mocked for it.
(I'm really sorry for ruining the punch line of this blog post by but I'm feeling really really smug that it elicited exactly the one reaction that proves it's hard to get away with parody/satire/sarcasm on Filipinos. Some won't ever get it.)
