Chelsea knocked out of FA CUP in a Penalty shootout

Chelsea's poor form and bad luck continued. Chelsea had another big dent in its quest for Silverware this season. Having lost their hopes in English Premier League title, now they had another big blow to their FA CUP campaign. In a replay of FA cup between Chelsea and Everton, match was decided in a penalty shoot out. Chelsea lost to Everton 3-4 in the shoot out. Ashley Cole missed the penalty for Chelsea.

Lampard scored the first goal for chelsea in the extra time. But with two minutes remaining, Everton pulled themselves back into the game with a superb free kick and took the match to penalty shootout.

Now chelsea's only 'hope' of silverware is to win UEFA champions league but which looks very unlikely with their current form and run. Only time would tell as they play their first leg out UEFA champions league knockout on wednesday feb 23.

In another match, Man Utd played a very unlikely non league opponent Crawley town. It was dream come true for Crawley town football club to play Man Utd. The visitors put on a gutsy show and played the football of their lives. United took the lead early in first half, thanks to the goal scored by an unlikely source Wes Brown, who headed a cross into the far corner. United never looked threatening after that but Crawley town constantly tried to scare united and almost got a goal in the stoppage time but hitting the woodwork. Sir Alex had made 9 changes to the squad that beat Manchester City last weekend, to have their main lead players fit and fresh for the upcoming UEFA champions league knockout tie against Marseille on Feb 22nd.
