as quoted by a friend:

"a relaxed mind, a peaceful soul, a joyful spirit, a healthy body & heart full of love"

2010 top release, where jimlucky is concerned

I effin' love music....it consumed too much of my time it becoming borderline unhealthy!..I hope everyone out there loves music too.

and this shitty blog talks lotsa crappy music that makes u wanna throw up n wonder whether this guy got any other subject to write about rite? :]

so here is best music of twenty ten, where i am concerned...read and checkout the clips...maybe you'll dig your new favourite band

5. NONE MORE BLACK- Icons
i cant get enough of Kid Dynamite, Jason Shevchuk's legendary hardcore punk band.  When the group disbanded, i began to quench the thirst by listening to the so-called copycats (eg Shook Ones/No Trigger)
Jay then formed NMB and released the classic This is Satire...It’s been 4 years since and they’ve returned with 'Icons', an album nothing short of amazing...songs that make you want to dance with your fists...sic riffs + thoughtful lyrics...mind blowing

4. MIXTAPES- Maps
Mixtapes were arguably the most prolific band of the year, releasing an LP, a split and 2 EPs...which is even more surprising since they weren’t even a band in 2009. All material they’re pumping out is damn good. Catchy pop-punk goodness with sugar-coated male/female vocals and interesting/intelligent lyrics. And i'm a sucker for girl voice in punkrock (Tsunami Bomb and Lemuria comes to mind)...the fact that Maura Weaver has a cute voice certainly helps. This is sunshine in audio form

3. DOPAMINES- Expect The Worse
Bomb The Music Industry!'s head-honcho Jeff Rosenstock always spot a Dopamines t-shirt...so their music must be good eh?...thats how i discovered Dopamines...and bullseye, i was damn right...'Expect The Worst' is 13 simple but catchy tunes in less than thirty minutes in the mould of the Ramones and perfected by new waver Teenage Bottlerocket/The Copyrights...without a doubt the pop-punk album of the year...I need to checkout their discography

2. THE FLATLINERS- Cavalcade
I remember back in 2005 when i was paying RM80 for the imported CD Destroy to Create , a fiery ska-punk infused debut album by a group of Montreal, Canadian high-school kids.  5 years and one LP later they have completely ditched the ska with Cavalcade, excellently became an exponentially better band with anthemic, emotional and catchy melodic hardcore/skate punk offerings. Chris Cresswell sounds years beyond his age, gruffy vocals firing from all cylinders. Cavalcade is culmination of a sound of a band finding their niche without the growing pains usually associated with such a transition.. The best FatWreck release of the year

1. THE MENZINGERS- Chamberlain Waits
after releasing the massive critically acclaimed brilliant EP Hold on Dodge, the stoked-bar was raised quite high on the anticipation of their full length follow up Chamberlain Waits.  The Scranton, Philly quartet doesn't disappoint, producing such a sweet transitional feeling that sweeps over this whole album.  From one moment to the next, it's gritty and gruff, infectiously poppy, viscerally emotional, and firmly in touch with its punk roots from the Clash to Billy Bragg.
In fact, any of the first 5 songs (Who's Your Partner, I Was Born, Home Outgrown, Deep Sleep, Time Tables) could be the song of the year! Menzingers could be the new Lawrence Arms and Dillinger Four! and for getting the most playtime in my iPod...Chamberlain Waits is the best release of 2010.

btw checkout the band ripping out the stage at this year's Fest here

Honourable mentions
not among the top 5... but these albums are still sick

THE WONDER YEARS - The Upsides
RVIVR - LP
OFF WITH THEIR HEADS- In Desolation
CRIME IN STEREO- I Was Trying To Describe You To Someone
CEREMONY- Rohnert Park
GASLIGHT ANTHEM- The American Slang
IRON CHIC- Not Like this

2010 in retrospect

I am yet again faced with the challenge of reviewing my experiences for this year (not really a challenge, since it has become a ritual of mine xD).

Being the homebody or dormbody person that I am, there's not much of a thrill that happened to me this year. As what my cousin promptly told me "You need to have a life! Do not always be in front of your laptop, or your books, or football". To which I replied, "I'm completely happy and contented with my life."
I guess, for people like me, contentment comes in a different way.

Moving on, let me bring you what constituted an amazing #2010 for me (in random order):

* I got a job - YAY. Getting a job = sign of maturity & sign of me putting laziness behind. Though, I sure have lots of complain regarding my part-time job, that's nothing to what I experienced and also, who would complain about getting paid (being underpaid is better than nothing, 'di ba?)? Plus I got to meet the sweetest and most adorable tutee :)

* Comm Res blockmates - if before, we were not close, come first semester of this year, everthing changed ^_^.

* RM 214 - super crazy but fun roommates. I never expected that we'll be as bonded as we are now. Uber glad to have them as my roomies ♥

* books - Judith McNaught and Martha Cecilia's, specifically. 'nuff said ^_____________^

* friends and family - through thick and thin, I'm glad I have you all throughout this year, though sometimes I tend to sit down and reflect on why I don't have that many friends (emo), but having you (you know who you are) by my side is more than enough :) And I was also fortunate enough to discover a few who, I'm sure we'll forever be a part of my life.

and last, but definitely not the least,

* FOOTBALL - it has taken my world by storm. As in literally. You should have seen this coming :) If you're aware of my addiction for a thing, nothing can surpass that of football (kpop and asian dramas can be an equal, I guess)

Greatful for that one fateful July day, I discovered La Furia Roja

and that's only the beginning of my football craze. LOL.

It has led me to buy jerseys/kits, lanyards, keychains, etc. And to download games. If before, what I DL were dramas, movies, now it's football games. I tell you, being a Pinoy football fan is costly, since it is hard to find merchs here, plus, there are but a few fans I know. And, it's the reason why I took a Spanish class. Mucho loco, bien?

However, due to the popularity of the Azkals, football is starting to pique the interest of the Pinoys :) Hopefully, in a few years time, football will be a big sport here, just like anywhere in the planet.

Just remember, it's football, not soccer (jajaja, at first I used soccer too).

That's it. My 2010 ^^

[AgainstTheOdds]story of a bunch of no-hopers

inilah barisan kita yang ikhlas berjuang...we salute you!
*update* checkout this cute blog-entry courtesy of ontd football

who would have taught that after the 1-5 humiliation by the Indonesians in the opening game of the AFF Suzuki Cup, the Malaysian youngsters fondly known as 'Harimau Malaya' would go all the way to clinch the title...beating the same opponent 4-2 on aggregate in a two-legged finals

it was an xtraterrestrial achievement that is simply breathtaking considering [1]the inexperience of the players..the entire backline is between 19-23 [2]the absence of 10 regular players due to variety of  injuries...the untouchable rita rudaini/ayu raudhah brothers included [3]getting the better of regional favourites Thailand and Vietnam on the road to the finals was no easy feat...so a huge kudos to FAM for finding the right winning formula

[pic credit: armayaphotography]
the euphoria on the Malaysian Football Team is at an all time high, bringing back the glory years of 70-80s golden era when we were among the powerhouse of Asia... so its no surprise that the Contingency Planning & Management of MANGGA and URTV are currently contemplating the next action to manipulate this situation... be afraid, be VERY afraid :]

Grandi partite della Serie A : Roma Inter Milan 1998 1999

03 Mai 1999
Stadio Olimpico, Roma

66 000 Spectateurs
Referee : Colina

Roma: Konsel, Quadrini, Zago, Aldair, Candela, Alenitchev (32'pt Tommasi), Di Biagio (39'st Tomic), Di Francesco, Paulo Sergio (34'st Gautieri), Delvecchio, Totti.
Inter: Pagliuca (17'st Frey), Bergomi, Silvestre,  Simic, Colonnese, J. Zanetti (34'st Djorkaeff), Cauet, Simeone, R. Baggio, Ronaldo, Zamorano.
Goals: 16'pt Ronaldo, 21'pt Zamorano, 25'pt Totti (R), 34' pt Zamorano, 2'st Paulo Sergio, 3'st Delvecchio, 10'st Ronaldo, 33'st Di Francesco, 42' st Simeone.
Ammoniti: Zago, Zanetti, Zamorano, Angoli: 10-4 per la Roma
Season had 3 leaders of the table (for the first part of the season it was Fiorentina, who were winter champions but were then hurt by the injury of Batistuta, then Lazio, who looked on their way to the Scudetto but fell off form towards the end, and then Milan who surprised everyone and stole the Scudetto on the last day). Juventus had a bad year, with Del Piero suffering a big injury and Lippi being replaced mid-season by Carlo Ancelotti. Inter were expecting big things with their strike pair of Roberto Baggio and Ronaldo, but various injuries led to the latter two not playing much together all season, and Inter went through 3 coaches before finishing the season with Roy Hodgson. For Roma, this was their last season of the Zdenek Zeman era, as Fabio Capello would take over in the summer. Roma practiced the Zeman philosophy, 4-3-3 formation, free-flowing constant attacking football, leaving many defensive holes. It’s no surprise that this game ended 5-4 in Inter’s favor. Game story after the jump.

This game was played in early May of 1999 with the season coming to an end. Roma were fighting for a place in the Champions League, while Inter were having a disastrous season and hoped to salvage some of it by at least getting a UEFA Cup qualification spot. This was one of the few games of the season where Inter had Roberto Baggio and Ronaldo both fit, as well as Chilean striker Ivan Zamorano, always deadly on headers. To counter Zeman’s 4-3-3, Hodgson put out his own 4-3-3, with the trio of Baggio, Ronaldo, and Zamorano up front. Inter kept taking the lead but Roma kept fighting back with it’s own trio, Marco Delvecchio, Francesco Totti, and Brazilian Paulo Sergio (who left for Bayern Munich that summer and won the Champions League). Like I said, Inter kept taking the lead, and Roma always found a way back until the end when Diego Simeone scored the winning goal. It was highly entertaining. And of course something to not: what a joy it was to watch Roberto Baggio play, no matter what shirt he was wearing. He was involved in 4 of Inter’s 5 goals in this match.
