stoked part 9

part 9 of the stoked series
from rockmidgets.com:

Yeah, yeah, good things come in small packages and all that crap, but Surrender really does take the piss. The second of two EPs from the seminal Philadelphia outfit this year, following on from June's Amnesia on Bridge Nine, Surrender
clocks in at under seven minutes and is nothing short of fantastic.

Opening things up in style, 'Sacred' is one of the best tracks of 2009,
with its frantic guitars leading up to a killer chorus and a superb
sing-along second half, while the heavy stop-start rhythms of 'Worms'
shows that Paint It Black can do much more than just super fast, super
pissed off offerings, like the 46 second long 'Cipher' which follows
afterwards.

Everything Paint It Black have done to date has been bloody great, and Surrender is no exception, in fact it could arguably be their best work yet.

Tracklist:

1.Sacred 1:47
2.Worms 2:17
3.Cipher 0:46
4.Surrender 2:02
[Sacred lyrics: "I used to feel safe, oblivious to the mess I left in my wake. Now I try
to give more than I take. But there’s more at stake than the nights I
spent awake. It turns out I’ve got a selfish streak, and I repeat the
same mistakes. Seconds, hours, minutes, days.  I feel it slipping away.
Did I mention that I’m fucking scared? I can feel the decay, but I
can’t say it caught me unawares.  New bruises, new pills. Fate will not
fight fair; the clock will not stand still.  “Ask me why & I’ll
spit in your eye.” We’re all Still Ill. Today I felt the time slipping
away. We’ll push the fear out of the way."]
