Perhentian Island (Part 2)

Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog!

As you know, there is a part 2 of this particular entry. Part 2 will be featuring the night, tokong laut, and shark point dive. It was also our last 3 dives before heading back to KL, just wish we could dive more and longer. Soon, soon... We're already planning our next trip, probably in Sipadan somewhere in October 2009.

Night Dive:
When Andy my instructor asked what advance course do we want to choose? We could pick 5, but Deep & Navigation is a compulsory course, so we left with 3 option. We ended up picking Wreck, Fish ID (so we could recognize and learn more about underwater lifes) Last but not least, we chose Night Dive. This was the dive i feared most, i wont lie. But something tells me if i don't do this, i might regret, so what the heck! Baby & i chose night dive as the last course. Why was i petrified? Well..since young i was always afraid of the dark, only recently (5-6 years ago i started sleeping with my main lights off) My computer monitor screen saver is still active up to date when i go to bed. That says it all...

So off we go, 7.30PM night dive. After briefing, pre-dive safety check, and boat ride. We finally reach around 8pm. Sky were dark, water was cold, and wind was blowing, that wasn't helping at all. My heart went BOOM BOOM BOOM, forcing a smile to my instructor and baby that i was fearless :P So, enjoy some of the pics. Pretty bad, because somehow the Sony T700 can't catch good shots at night, especially underwater..

It wasn't this bright, we were on underwater mode, so it became abit blue :D

Now, it was this DARK!

Barely 5mins after we reach the bottom, i saw a Blue spotted stingray

Hermit Crab

Ghost Crab, but it kept going back in the sand!

Swimmer Crab, not a nice pic :(

Reef Shrimp

Supposedly rare to see it on the sand

That's all worth seeing, but worth a million words if you experience it on your own someday. I totally enjoyed the dive, and it is my favourite dive out of 10! Andy my instructor said after your night dive, you will come out the water a more confident, experience and calm diver. Damn right! It boosted my confidence even more, and now diving is my new love :P

Tokong Laut:
One of the best dive site in Perhentian Island.

Why? That's because you can almost see any kind of unique fishes in here. From bamboo/leopard sharks, trigger fish, puffer/porcupine, turtle and amazingly a 3-legged one named Tri-Pod by the Perhentian people. It's leg got entangled with a boat, and apparently it broke and now he can't swim very far and fast. So this place is almost like his home, 8 out of 10 times people dive there, would see it. EXCEPT ME. OMFG!!! Fucking hate my luck. Speaking about luck, guess what? Our tokong laut dive was scheduled 9.30am > 10.30am, so after our dive, we left the site and headed to our shop. 3hours later, we got a text/call from a dive centre that a WHALE SHARK was spotted at TOKONG LAUT approximately 10.50am. My heart dropped after hearing that news, it's every divers dream to see a whale shark, some instructors i know dived 10-20years, and still never swam with one before. Sigh... really hate my luck.

Spotted Box Fish

Bamboo Shark (alot of them around, lying down)

Blue-ringed Angel Fish

Porcupine Fish

Tomato Clown Fish (Nemo's cousin) :P

Small White Eye Eel

Small Butterfly Fish

OK? OK sign language :D

My dive log

That signals the end of my diving experience! A wonderful one indeed. We couldn't dive the last day because we needed 18hours of urm not rest, dont know the word lol.. before going in the airplane. We ended up drinking alcohol at night, then took loads of pictures with the Sea Horse dive masters & instructors.

Water & Weather looking perfect on the last day (It was like this the whole trip!)
Best so far this season according to the permanent divers

That's the end of my Perhentian trip entry =) Said it before, and i'll say it again. My best trip so far, loved every minute of it. Baby & i will be trying to dive as many places as we can, because once she goes back to Amsterdam, baby wont be diving for at least a year plus. Do browse my blog once a while to check up what my new dates and places will be!
