Total Lonar Ekleps.......(and another Oxpinoy Gastronomic Protest Society Dinner)

Last night was my first total lunar eclipse after 17 or so years. The moon entered the penumbra at 8:18pm (GMT) and left it at 2:24am (GMT).

Associated press photo of the moon being gobbled and turned into blood red.

We all know that when La Luna is full, people are induced to doing crazy things. Ergo, you would expect during the 6 hours that it was covered by Earth's shadow that people would at least be normal. Sadly, for this historic night's dinner, to belatedly celebrate Clinton's birthday, everyone must have snorted some 'dumb dust'. There were some ridiculously ridiculously shtooofid comments flying about. But, far be it for me to name names (Alexandra, Xtina, Lourdes....), this matter is not worth elaborating. (If you don't know the difference between saffron and kasuba, then I'm sorry, when the asteroid finally hits earth, you won't be inside the Ark.)

As a public service feature, the OxPinoy Gastronomic Protest Society, led Chef by of the night Clinton, shows how to cook Baa Blacksheep....

1. Get lamb from a good butcher. For Filipino size servings, double the amount requested. (ie "lamb for 4 people" in European quantity is only good for 1.5 Filipinos).

2. Sear the lamb.

3. Pop in the oven for 30 minutes. (Pop Quiz: Which UP Graduate does not know the difference between an oven and a microwave?)

4. Take from oven, and allow to cool for 2 minutes.

5. Carve. (This lamb is very very fat!)

6. Serve with Persian rice (actually Himalayan Basmati with saffron), ratatouille, and spinach-yoghurt.

7. For first dessert, end of season runny Vacherin.

8. After dinner coffee - strong Kalinga coffee. (The chili is just for artistic effect. It's what reminds me of Kalinga....)
